The “safest cities to live in the u.s. 2021” is a list of the safest cities in America. The list was created by MediaFeed, and it includes data that has been compiled from FBI crime reports, census data, and other sources.
In 2021, as a result of the high number of illnesses and fatalities caused by COVID-19, safety has taken on a new meaning.
Despite advancements, crime continues to have an influence on American communities. Prosperity, money, and economic opportunity are all linked to crime and safety. Individual victims, criminals, communities, and society as a whole pay a high price for crime.
MoneyGeek used the FBI’s most current crime data to estimate the cost of crime in over 300 cities throughout the United States.

The America’s Safest Cities
In this study, we evaluated 297 cities with populations of over 100,000 people from most to least secure. The summary below show the safest cities overall, the safest big cities, and the most dangerous cities, as well as their total and per capita crime costs. At the conclusion of this research, you’ll get the whole data set, which includes the city’s population, crime costs, and crime rates by category of crime.
There is a persistent notion that bigger cities are riskier. While no major cities (with a population of 300,000 or more) made the overall safest list, large cities made up less than half of the 15 least safe places in the US.

Methodology
MoneyGeek used FBI-reported standardized crime data to determine the safest cities in the United States. To estimate crime rates per 100,000 people, the population of each city was included to the study, and this information was also obtained from FBI statistics. When the FBI dataset didn’t provide data for cities with more than 200,000 residents, MoneyGeek performed specialized research on standardized crime statistics for each city.
Professors Kathryn McCollister and Michael French of the University of Miami, as well as Hai Fang of the University of Colorado Denver, conducted research to assess the cost of crime to society. We then combined their results with the larger dataset to get a better understanding of the social cost of crime in certain cities.
MoneyGeek used the approach outlined above to evaluate 2019 FBI crime data and compare them to our 2020 study findings in order to compute the change in the cost of crime from 2019 to 2020.
Finally, MoneyGeek utilized information from Wikipedia on the amount and types of mass shootings expected in the United States in 2020.
