One of the most important things you can do as a job-seeker is research the company you are considering working for. As you might have guessed, I have done plenty of research on my top 25 employers. Here’s the list:

The success of a company is often directly related to the amount of talent it is producing. If you think of the world as a growing workforce, and the necessary talent as raw material, then the top employers for talent are the ones that are producing the most talent. So how do you find the best employers in your area?

Companies have all kind of ways to attract talent, but few have gone on the lengths of the top employers in Austin, Texas. According to a 2018 report by Area Development, the annual median wage for those who live in Austin, Texas is $77,930.00. If you look at the top companies in Austin, TX, the annual median wage for those who live in Austin, TX is $84,250.00. This means that the companies in Austin, TX that pay the highest salaries are offering almost a 10% increase over the average wage for someone that lives in Austin.

The top 25 employers in Austin, Texas

LinkedIn has published a list of Austin’s top employers. They ranked the best 25 companies to work for if you want to advance your career. Big tech, retail, banking, and health care are among the industries represented on the list.

The Greater Austin area is home to a number of major corporations, including Oracle and Whole Foods. Companies with at least 50 employees were graded according to the seven criteria below:

  1. Ability to progress
  2. Enhancement of abilities
  3. Stability of the business
  4. External possibility
  5. Affinity between companies
  6. Gender equality
  7. Background in Education

Methodology

LinkedIn ranked firms in the seven areas stated above based on their data. The following are the categories they used to define them:

  1. Based on defined job titles, Ability to Advance records employee promotions within a firm and when they move to a new organization.
  2. Using defined LinkedIn skills, skills growth examines how people throughout the firm are learning abilities while engaged at the company.
  3. The percentage of employees that stay at the firm for at least three years, as well as attrition over the previous year, are tracked by company stability.
  4. External opportunity examines recruiter outreach to the company’s personnel, indicating a desire for workers from these firms.
  5. Company affinity focuses the employee connection volume on LinkedIn, adjusted for company size, to determine how supportive a company’s culture is.
  6. Gender variety refers to a company’s gender balance.
  7. Finally, educational background investigates the range of educational attainment among employees, from no degree to Ph.D., indicating a commitment to hiring a diverse workforce.

Companies must have at least 50 employees in the city by April 30, 2021 to be eligible, and staff losses (including attrition and layoffs) cannot exceed 10%. (based on LinkedIn data and public announcements, respectively).

The city lists separate subsidiaries from their parent firms, although LinkedIn’s yearly Top Companies list includes just parent companies (data on majority-owned subsidiaries is factored into the parent company score). Across the pool of organizations eligible for the list, all data counts are standardized depending on company size.

May 1, 2020 through April 30, 2021 is the methodology’s time span. All of the data is de-identified and/or aggregated.

All staffing and recruiting organizations, educational institutions, and government agencies were prohibited from LinkedIn. LinkedIn, its parent firm Microsoft, and Microsoft subsidiaries were also banned.
